We opened our doors in 1998 with two shelves, a cash box, and a fierce belief that independent bookselling matters. Twenty-six years later, we have over 25,000 titles, a full events calendar, and a community we'd do anything for.

Every title we stock has been read and chosen by a human being who works in this shop. We don't order by algorithm. We order by passion. That's why people drive across Portland to browse our shelves.

Free same-day delivery within 5 miles. Orders placed before noon arrive the same day.

Can't find what you're looking for? We'll source any book — in print or out of print.

Questions

Yes — you can call, email, or use our order form and we'll have your books ready for collection or deliver locally within the same day (orders before noon). National orders ship within 2–3 business days.

We buy quality second-hand books in good condition, with a focus on our key genres. Bring them in and our team will take a look. We pay in store credit or cash.

Members pay $12 per month. Each month we announce a curated selection, and members gather for an evening discussion. You get 10% off all purchases, early event access, and monthly reading recommendations.

Most events are free. Some author events charge a small ticket fee (typically $5–$10, fully redeemable against a purchase on the night). Story Hours and Book Club evenings are free for members.
