Protect Your Investment

How you care for a fresh tattoo directly affects how it heals and how it looks for the rest of your life. Follow these steps and contact us with any concerns.

First 4 Hours

Keep the wrap or bandage applied by your artist in place. Do not remove it early. Avoid touching the tattooed area.

First 3 Days

Wash gently with unscented antibacterial soap twice daily. Pat dry — do not rub. Apply a thin layer of unscented moisturizer.

Weeks 1–2

Avoid sun exposure, swimming, soaking in baths, and heavy exercise. Keep the area moisturized and let any peeling happen naturally.

Long-Term Care

Apply SPF 50+ whenever the tattoo is exposed to sunlight. This is the single most important factor in color longevity.

If you experience excessive swelling, oozing, or signs of infection, consult a medical professional immediately and contact the studio. Do not use petroleum jelly, alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide on a healing tattoo.
FAQ

Before You Book

Fill out our booking form on this page, selecting the artist whose work you love. We will respond within 48 hours to schedule your consultation. Consultations are complimentary and typically 20–30 minutes — in-person or via video call.
Pricing depends on the artist, design complexity, size, and placement. Our minimum charge is $100 and hourly rates range from $150–$250 per hour depending on the artist. A consultation will give you an accurate quote before you commit to booking.
Yes, to varying degrees depending on placement. Bony areas, ribs, and inner joints tend to be more sensitive. Outer arms, thighs, and calves are typically among the more comfortable placements. Our artists take breaks when needed and work at a pace that keeps you comfortable.
Yes. We welcome client reference images and design direction. Our artists will adapt and refine your concept to work well as a tattoo — proportions, line weight, and ink behavior are different on skin than on paper. They may suggest modifications to ensure the best result.
Eat a full meal 1–2 hours before your appointment. Stay well hydrated. Get a good night's sleep. Wear or bring clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your session. Do not apply lotion to the area on the day of your appointment.
All tattoos done at Ink Atlas include a free touch-up within 3 months of the original session, once the tattoo is fully healed (typically 4–6 weeks). After the 3-month window, standard hourly rates apply. Touch-ups are only available for work done at Ink Atlas.
